Uproar Festival Montreal Concert Review
Even with the threat of thunderstorms forecasted for later in the evening, rock fans made their way to Parc Jean Drapeau for The Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. The Uproar tour was created last year and has played host to bands such as Disturbed, Stone Sour, Avenged Sevenfold, and Three Days Grace.

Art of Dying
Art of Dying is one of those bands that you see live and you can't help but wonder why they are playing on a side stage; they were made to rock the main stage. Performing early on the Jägermeister Stage just as the rain started, Jonny and the boys didn't disappoint, playing some of their hits, Get Thru This, Whole World's Crazy and of course, Die Trying. During their set, fans were also treated to a surprise performance of Inside It's Raining with guest vocalist Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace. If you're planning on heading to one of the remaining Uproar tour stops, make sure to get there early to check them out.
Black Tide
As one of the heavier bands on the Uproar bill, Black Tide was able to capitalize on the crowd energy created by Art of Dying. With an album released less than a month ago, they made sure to test out their new songs on the Montreal crowd.
Protest The Hero
As the special guests for the Montreal and Toronto Uproar tour stops, Protest The Hero closed out the day on the Jägermeister stage. By this point, the sun was out in full force, fooling everyone in attendance that had decided to dispose of their rain ponchos. Playing songs, old and new, Protest The Hero was a great lead into the rest of the bands that would follow on the main stage.
Escape The Fate
Kicking things off on the main stage, avoiding the rain wasn't the only hurdle that Escape The Fate had to face; unfortunately for them, their bassist wasn't allowed to enter Canada and got stuck at the border. With the help of Zakk Sandler, bassist for Black Tide, the show went on. Starting off with Choose Your Fate, they also played songs off of their 2010 self titled release including Issues and Day of Wreckoning. To close out their set, they played The Aftermath.
Bullet For My Valentine
Even though they're used to the rain where they're from, Welsh rockers Bullet For My Valentine were the last band to squeeze through before the rain delay. Hitting the road before they start writing their fourth studio album, the band took to the stage playing most of their singles off of their various releases, which was the common trend amongst the band on tour due to their shorter sets. Ending their set with Alone, Bullet For My Valentine did a great job at getting the crowd ready for Seether. Unfortunately for the fans, that's when the skies then opened up.
Seether
Unfortunately for Seether fans, the rain, lightning, and high winds proved to be too much and caused a delay in the show. Due to an 11 p.m. curfew at the venue, Seether's set was cancelled so the rest of the show could go on as scheduled.
Three Days Grace
After the long rain delay and cancelation of Seether's set, the crowd was ready for Three Days Grace to hit the stage. Starting off with The Good Life, Break, and I Hate Everything About You, frontman Adam Gontier then took the time out to address the crowd, thanking them for sticking around and supporting all the bands even with all of the rain. Next up was the 3DG hit Home, with a surprising interlude of Eminem's Lose Yourself. Their set was chock full of their hits as they closed it out with Never Too Late, crowd fave Riot, and Animal I Have Become.
Avenged Sevenfold
As the giant black curtain was lowered to hide the stage from the crowd as they set up, the fans could no longer contain their excitement; finally, the band that they had been chanting for all day through the rain was about to hit the stage. Avenged Sevenfold kicked things off with Nightmare and Afterlife. Prior to starting their next song, frontman M. Shadows asked who in the crowd was at their first AX7 show, those that responded were then welcomed with the song, Welcome to the Family. Montreal holds a special place in the story of Avenged Sevenfold; M. Shadows reminisced that their first performance after the passing of James 'The Rev' Sullivan was during the 2010 edition of HeavyMTL. That story was the perfect lead in to their performance of So Far Away. While their set was cut short due to the rain delay, the fans who remained 'til the end were glad that they did
While the weather left a lot to be desired, the fans in attendance didn't let that ruin their Uproar experience. For the most part, the crowd handled the situation gracefully, except for the few bottles that were tossed toward the stage when the promoters announced that the show would be delayed. Here's hoping that if the Uproar tour returns to Montreal next year, the sun will come out to enjoy the music too.
