2011 American Music Awards Nominations

Last night in Los Angeles, artists Niki Manaj and Pitbull announced the nominations for the 2011 American Music Awards (AMAs). The AMAs will air on Sunday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m. on ABC. This year, the nominees are largely female; this is particularly evident in the Artist of the Year category, which shows a ratio of 4:1 (female:male).

So far, nominees Katy Perry and Pitbull are confirmed performers at the awards show.

You can be a part of it all by casting your votes in all 18 categories before voting ends on Friday, November 11 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The winners will be revealed live during the program.

With so many pop and rock artists out there, it's surprising to find the two categories combined--and only containing only three nominees at that. It's also interesting to see some of the artists pitted against each other, including Rihanna versus Chris Brown in the Soul/R&B Album category (need I say more?), and Beyonce versus Kelly Rowland in the Soul/R&B Music: Favorite Female Artist category (almost a Destiny's Child reunion, but not quite). This year, Adele leads the pack with 4 nominations.
