It's was a sad day today as recent rumors that Foo Fighters were on the brink of breaking up turned out to be true, or so we're led to believe. Taylor Hawkins, the band's drummer has *confirmed* the news in a new interview with Artisan News.

“We’re on ihateus right now, we’re on an indefinite ihateus (spin on the word hiatus) [..] was not because we don’t love each other, or don’t want to make music together … We did so much in the last five or six years — we as a band could go into the studio tomorrow and have just as much fun as we ever had, but I think the world needs a break from us for a little while.”

The band previously went on a hiatus in 2008 and again in 2012, though Grohl and Hawkins have always managed to keep busy with their side projects. If the Academy Awards were any indication, it wouldn't surprise us to see Grohl finally attempt a solo venture; though technically, the original Foo Fighters album was 95% all Grohl.

UPDATE

Or at least, that's what the band made us believe with their recent actions.

In true Foo Fighter fashion, the band released this epic video explaining their "break up". Watch until the end,
