Back when Dave Grohl was an aspiring musician, he was in a band known as Mission Impossible. Like any teen who is trying to get their foot in the music industry he wanted to desperately sign with a record label. Dischord Records founder Ian MacKaye recently found a letter that Dave had written to the punk label when he was 14 asking for contact information and if they could take a listen to his band’s demo tape.

When talking about the letter, Dave said: “It was this little letter that I sent him. I don't know what the rest of the letter was. I think I was maybe 14 and I wrote Dischord Records a letter because I wanted someone to release my band's demo tape, we were called Mission Impossible” he finished with “If the Foos could do a Dischord single, then we could break up. Done deal.”

Look what my hero Ian Mackaye (Minor Threat/Fugazi) just found: a letter I wrote to him when I was 14! Haha! pic.twitter.com/Ak8gxZz5m6

We’re obviously hoping that Dave is just kidding here but just to be safe let's get the word out.. #DontSignTheFoo
